Privacy policy
Effective October 12, 2026. This policy describes the EscapeCouch mobile app and challenge service. Contact support@escapecouch.com for privacy questions, access requests or corrections.
Camera and recordings
The camera estimates your body’s position on your phone to control the game. Camera frames and the pose stream are not uploaded to the EscapeCouch service. Optional round recordings stay on your device unless you save them to your photo library or use a share action. We do not use the microphone for round recordings. Choosing a photo for your avatar uploads that selected image when you sync a signed-in profile.
Information you provide
Apple or Google sign-in provides an account identifier and, when available, your email and name. We store your chosen username, display name, avatar, game preferences and onboarding answers. Your saved fitness setup may include weight, age, height, sex used for estimates, activity level and goals. Solo progress is stored on your phone; signing in also syncs your profile and workout history.
Activity and challenges
Saved workouts include dates, duration, difficulty, repetitions, score, estimated calories and progress. The challenge service stores invitations, participants, round settings, scores, results and presence needed for live play. Other players can see your username, display name, challenge results involving them, and public leaderboard statistics and equipped titles. Your email and private fitness setup are not shown in player discovery or leaderboards.
Safety and support
We store player blocks and reports, including the reason, optional description and relevant challenge reference. Reports are accessible to authorized operators for review. Contacting support shares the information you include in your email. Service providers also process connection information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service.
How information is used
We use this information to authenticate you, sync progress, estimate activity, run challenges and rankings, prevent abuse and respond to support requests. Calorie estimates are approximate. EscapeCouch does not include advertising trackers, sell your personal data or use camera footage to train models.
Purchases
When you use in-app purchases, Apple or Google processes payment. RevenueCat processes your EscapeCouch account identifier, product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, subscription status, store and technical purchase information so we can verify access and restore purchases. We do not receive your full payment card details. We do not send your email, display name, camera footage or fitness setup to RevenueCat.
Service providers
Supabase provides authentication, database and avatar storage. Hetzner hosts the challenge service. Apple and Google handle the sign-in methods you choose and store purchases. RevenueCat validates subscription access. Cloudflare routes support email to our support inbox, which is hosted by Google. Information may be processed outside your country. Your operating system or a sharing destination handles files you explicitly save or share, under its own privacy practices.
Retention and deletion
Account and activity data is kept while your account is active so your progress remains available. You can edit your profile in the app or delete your account and associated data.
Deleting an account removes its sign-in account, cloud profile and avatar, saved onboarding answers, workouts, progress, awards, challenge records, blocks and reports associated with that account. The app also clears its saved profile, cached avatars and pending uploads on the device used for deletion. Videos you exported to your photo library or shared with another person remain under your control.
A minimal deletion receipt (account ID, request ID, a one-way session fingerprint and completion time) is retained for up to 30 days so an interrupted request can safely confirm success. It contains no profile, email or workout history. We request deletion of the associated RevenueCat customer profile when one exists. Apple, Google and payment providers may retain transaction records under their own policies and legal obligations. Operational backups may retain older data until they expire; they are not used to restore a deleted account into active service.
Your choices
You can play solo without signing in, turn camera permission off in system settings, choose an emoji instead of a photo, and decide whether to record or share a round. Camera access is needed for movement-controlled play. Contact support@escapecouch.com to request access, correction or deletion of your personal information.
Children and changes
EscapeCouch is not directed to children under 13. If a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it. We may update this policy as the app changes; the effective date above identifies the latest version.
